A Wake-Up Call on the Pills of Illusion

The essence of our practices lies in awakening the inner fire in order to stimulate metabolism and act on both the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems. Recently, the French TV program Enquête Exclusive featured a report on the revolution sweeping across the world: Wegovy, Ozempic, Mounjaro, Zepbound … the pills that make people lose 20, 30, even 40 kilos in record time.

In the USA, celebrities never stop praising the virtues of these medications, and the crowds follow…

Yet, as revealed in the Enquête Exclusive documentary, although these drugs are officially approved on the American markets and more recently in Europe, they are far from harmless.

In France, their prescription is now authorized, but already the first testimonies are emerging.

For instance, Enquête Exclusive interviewed Isabelle, who developed an incurable paralysis of the stomach.

Paralysis of the stomach.
Imagine the effects not only on digestion, but also on the Tripa (Fire) humor!

  • Without Fire, there is no digestion.

  • Without Fire, there is no metabolism.

  • Without Fire, there are no essences, or tiglé — the hormones with which we work in Tibetan yogic practices, especially in advanced training.

  • Without Fire, there is no vision, as Fire is connected to the eyes…

On this platform, you are visitors, students in our programs, and teachers of Lu Jong and Tog Chöd.
I particularly want to address the teachers here… Explain the strength of the Fire element in our bodies, explain its role.

But that’s not all. These medications, in addition to slowing gastric emptying and extinguishing the inner Fire, act on the hypothalamus. This means it is the nervous system that is directly affected — and with it, the Lung (Wind) humor, also responsible for vision disorders. No surprise then that the woman shown at the 15th second of this trailer went blind after undergoing 15 operations to try to repair the damage…

Finally, by forcing the stagnation of food in the stomach, these drugs increase the Bekhan humor (water and earth), leading to excess humidity and heaviness in the body.
We are far, very far, from the spacious awareness we seek to “feel within our body, within our cells”…

I raise the alarm because I have recently seen people literally transform physically, losing dozens of kilos.
This is deeply concerning. Of course, those who take this path often say: “Yes, but I am under medical supervision. My doctor prescribes it, so it’s fine. If medicine authorizes it, it must be safe.”

Yes, perhaps. But what perspective do we really have? How many generations have taken this drug to confirm it is truly safe?

For all of us teachers, who are aware of the necessity of balancing the three humors and the five elements, we must teach these themes as much as possible. Not only because the person in your class might be concerned, but also because their brother, their aunt, their daughter, or someone close to them may be.

Speak about the importance of a healthy body.
A healthy body is a balanced body, where the five elements and the three humors are in harmony. A little fat, some curves — it does not matter. Guide your classes toward the generation of the inner Fire. Spend more time on the preliminaries, and explain the role of each step in the metabolic and balancing process. And why not… let’s learn to lose weight through the mastery of inner Fire!

Always teach more about the mind as well. Speak about the three poisons. Explain our attachments to the physical body. Teach that what we seek is not an aesthetic body — half-dead, cold — but a healthy body, filled with positive essences.

Happiness does not come from body shape. And if the body is truly too heavy, too large, let us set movement in motion.
Let’s move the body, move the breath, ignite the inner Fire and cultivate patience. Yes, it may take longer, but in the end the results will be far more effective. The body will benefit from stronger muscles and better mobility thanks to movement. The mind will benefit from the hormones of happiness and will flourish in the accomplishment of healthy choices and the daily commitment to practice. And as I said above, the time it takes will itself be a training in deep patience. In the end, this path brings immense benefits to both body and mind.

I leave you with these reflections…

Here is the trailer of the documentary, which I strongly encourage you to watch on the M6 replay of Enquête Exclusive.
