Full Moon Day: A Powerful Time for Spiritual Practice

Today, November 14, 2016, is an auspicious and beneficial day for practice, for several reasons: our channels are more open, therefore our practices are more effective. In my eyes, this is the most important aspect, because this day allows us to strengthen our transformation processes—provided, of course, that we apply ethics, positive thinking, and a meditative practice combined with breathwork to stimulate our channels.

Development of Tourism in India: Growth, Challenges, and Opportunities

My first trips to India date back to my childhood. I was ten and a half years old. At that time, international tourism was spreading through the documentaries and conferences of “Connaissances du Monde”, shown in a few dimly lit theaters in the suburbs of major cities. Among the audience, a handful of discovery enthusiasts dared to take the step—buy a ticket and set off toward those distant lands that were still little known.

Safety First with VoyagesBienEtre.com – Wellness Journeys at High Altitude

Taking one or more people on a journey is a responsibility. Nowadays, it is common to see people following those who sell “cool trips” or retreats that include certain practices—without any safety measures. No insurance. No understanding of the psychological issues that can arise when facing too strong a cultural contrast. And sometimes, no specific knowledge about taking people above 3,000 meters in altitude—which is often the case when visiting countries in the Himalayan regions. The problem is, once something goes wrong, it is often too late to act, especially at high altitude…

Teaching is not just about putting on leggings and…

For me, teaching is above all about transmission. It is about conveying an understanding of the practice which, when we speak of yoga—and especially Tibetan yogas—inevitably includes instructions on how to perform a movement, how to hold the breath, but also, and above all, how to place the mind.

Reflection and Meditation for the Illusioned in Spirituality

Yes, indeed, no choice! I must have around 1500 “Facebook friends” at the moment, and most of them are supposedly oriented toward spirituality. Yet I question this spirituality. The spirituality of the physical body? The spirituality of illusion? The spirituality of “Care Bears, everything is beautiful, everything is kind”?

The Interdependence Between Tibetan Yoga and Tibetan Medicine: A Path to Health and Awakening

For many, answering the question “What does yoga mean to you?” leads to the response that it is a physical practice designed to maintain the body by making it more flexible and stronger, all while focusing attention on the breath—thus allowing body and mind to unite. This is true, but I believe it is important to go beyond this approach, which is in fact a simplified Western view of a spiritual practice that is part of a greater whole.

These days when actions are multiplied 100,000 times.

Today, November 20, 2016, marks the 22nd day of the 9th lunar month, a major anniversary in the life of Buddha Shakyamuni. Last week, we observed the 15th day of the 9th lunar month as the day when he decided to descend from the heavens of Tushita (the paradise of the 33 gods), where he had remained for three months to give teachings to the beings abiding in that state of perception. In Buddhism, the heavens are to be understood as a spiritual state, or a vibrational state.

As human beings, the values of generosity, sharing, and support must be the priorities of our lives.
