Tibetan Yoga Kum Nyé is not a “yoga” in the way we usually perceive yoga.
It is more of a meditation into which a few movements are integrated.
This practice is the original mindfulness meditation. It was first introduced to the Western world by Tarthang Tulku, a Tibetan lama who was the very first to teach outside of the “ritualized Buddhist” context.
The mindfulness meditations spreading so commercially today are in fact only fragments of a much deeper and truly transformative method—for those who take the time to truly integrate it progressively, step by step.
Because that is the secret: mindfulness is in reality a multitude of mindful states, brought one after another, joining together. It is pointless to begin with the senses without first establishing the profound basis of mindfulness of the body.
Tarthang Tulku, noticing that Westerners had difficulty concentrating and thus entering meditation, integrated Tibetan yoga movements into the meditation practice, bringing the inner meditative journey into a context of mindfulness of the body in movement.
He thus developed a profound practice that can be approached in different ways:
-
As an anti-stress tool, with effects felt as early as the very first sessions… and by complete beginners!!!
-
As preparation for long meditations of Buddhist practitioners, since the practice enables them to drop into deep levels of relaxation and, above all, shift into “perceptual mode”—the key to truly entering into Tibetan Buddhism and genuine inner transformation. Indeed, the big problem for many practitioners is remaining in the conceptual realm, which is not at all the way to practice and integrate Tibetan Buddhism.
Kum Nyé meditative yoga is taught in a guided format.
Yogas Bouddhistes by Val offers 1-year programs, with 3 new sessions per week, allowing everyone to practice according to their availability.
New sessions are released each week because the practice is introduced progressively—a necessary condition for real transformation. After all, it is difficult to put the roof on a house if the walls and foundation haven’t first been laid. The platform automatically unlocks a new week of classes every Monday morning, with either 1 or 3 new sessions per week depending on your chosen program.
Assignments in the form of “conscious gestures” are introduced each week. Their purpose is to help you integrate mindfulness into your daily life.
Within your platform, you will also find the readings discussed each week in the introductory theories of each class. Indeed, since this is a process of mindfulness, a deeper understanding of ourselves must emerge. Each session begins with a few minutes of theory around the energetic body, the mind, the interaction between mind and the external world, how thoughts arise and how they can be reduced, our relationship with the breath, the energy of the breath, the impact of judgmental thoughts, and more.
To help integrate the practice, the platform also provides a weekly quiz summarizing the key points we have worked on during the week.
Finally, additional support is available on many lessons to check your understanding and guide you whenever necessary.
✨ Here, mindfulness is brought to you in a conscious and sustainable way!
